Prescription Eye Glasses For All Types of Vision Correction

Filed under: Prescription Eyeglasses — Glasses Frames @ 5:16 pm

Prescription eye glasses are used for vision correction as the combination of the lenses in your eyes and the lenses in your glasses will allow you to see properly. Those that have an astigmatism, are nearsighted or farsighted will require prescription eyeglasses. If you are nearsighted then you cannot see clearly far away and if you are farsighted then you cannot see clearly up close. As people age they may become both farsighted and nearsighted. In order to purchase prescription eyeglasses you will need to have an eye exam performed by an optometrist and then receive a prescription.

For those that have severe vision problems eyeglasses with lenses made of high index material can be the best as high index material eyeglasses will be very lightweight and provide better optics. Many times those with very bad eyesight will get headaches because their glasses are very heavy. High index lenses are an excellent option.

Aspheric lenses are also an excellent option for those that have very bad eyesight. Unlike more traditional lenses, aspheric lenses are more flat and thinner. This can be a benefit for your appearance as the lenses will not distort your face. Many times individuals that have extreme sight correction will have glasses that magnify their eyes or minify their eyes. With aspheric lenses your appearance will not be distorted.

There are many coatings that can be used to help protect your prescription eyeglasses as prescription eyeglasses can be very expensive. All prescription glasses today come with scratch resistant coatings. Most glasses will also have anti-reflective coatings and UV coatings. Anti-reflective coatings help to reduce glare and UV coatings block UV light from damaging your eyes. There are other coatings that can be used to help your glasses last longer.

Prescription eyeglasses can also have tinted lenses and the newest types of tinted lenses are photochromatic. Photochromatic lenses change color depending on the amount and type of light. When you are indoors the lenses will appear clear but if you should go outside on a bright sunny day the lenses will darken. Lenses can also be tinted strictly for aesthetic purposes.

Multifocal prescription eyeglasses can also be used in eyeglasses for those that are both farsighted and nearsighted. Progressive lenses, trifocal and bifocals are all types of multifocal lenses. Bifocals will have two different lenses, trifocals and three types of lenses and progressive lenses have a continuous and smooth integration between the lenses. Bifocal and trifocals can have a line where the lens changes.

Each year there are new advancements in prescription eyeglasses and some of the latest research has developed smudge and scratch resistant glasses. Besides being scratch resistant the Scotchguard protector also reduces water, grease, smudges and dirt from your glasses making them.
