The Developping History Of Eyeglasses

No doubt that eyeglasses help people a lot with their poor vision. However, eyeglasses also come through a long history of developments till now when there are a wide range of glasses available for peoples different kinds of needs. During the long history, scientists and manufacturers have tried every means to make eyeglasses to satisfy peoples needs, so that some eyeglasses are out and new glasses come into being. The following will introduce the main eyeglasses in the history of eyeglasses developing.

Thanks for the inventation of eyeglasses! But there is a problem that some people think eyeglasses can influence their appearance. With a pair of glasses, it means you declare that you have some weak points in your eyesight. No one wants to be noticed their shortcomings. Therefore, some people choose not to wear glasses in public. It is till the time English and French invented monocular that peoples worries on glasses have reduced a little. Monocular was invented in 1800 and also known as eye ring. At that time, the monocular was a symbol of respectability that won the popularity of people not only in England and France, but also in other European countries and even in Russia.

Another important eyeglass inventation in the history is lorgnette, which is characterized by two lenses fitting into a frame and holing in a handle. Not like eyeglasses that people need to wear upon their nose bridge, lorgnette can be held in the hand and used whenever people need. Lorgnette was also very popular with people, especially with women, who dont like to wear ordinary glasses. With the further development of lorgnette, manufacturers made some artistic designs on it, which were considered as a kind of fashionable accessories.

And then in 1840s, the pince-nez was invented, which also brought a new revolution to eyeglasses. Pince-nez is a kind of eyeglasses but without temples. In the later development, there were different styles available for people to choose. They were very popular with men and women. Generally specking, men liked the oval shaped pince-nez with a heavy weight that can be placed around the neck or pinned to the lapel. Ladies preferred the oval and rimless style with a delicate chain that can be hidden in their dress.

Then in the 20th century, though sunglasses were popular in 1930s, people were still not satisfied with eyeglasses. However, the recent development of eyeglasses has changed the fate of eyeglasses. There are always new styles or colors of eyeglasses available through the hardwork of scientists and manufacturers. No matter what kind of expectation you have on your eyeglasses, you can always find one that suits you. Nowadays, it is a fact that eyeglasses are widely used not only by people with poor vision, but also by people with good eyesight but wants to change their appearance or in pursuit of fashion
